This is Pa Pa Wei (again I'm assuming the spelling--that's what she said her name was). I promised her I would buy whatever it was from her after we went through Mingun, a village with lots of shops. She waited for me and I made good my promise. She is 22 years old and has two babies already. If I neglected to mention, the white stuff on her cheeks is call "thanaka" and is both a sun screen and a cosmetic. Most of the women wear it either as Pa Pa Wei is wearing it or in round circles on the cheeks and a strip on their nose. At first it seems weird, but after a while it really does look beautiful.
Here is our happy group on the RV Pandaw 1947. From left and around the table: Robert, Pearl, Nu Nu, Kim, Stacy, Bob, Imelda, Tom and yours truly.
A boatload of monks celebrating. Be sure to click on this photo to enlarge it so you can see the fun they are having. Not true that monks are solemn creatures.
